Cinderhound Studio ("we", "us", "our") operates the ExpenseMax mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our App.
The short version: we don't collect your data. At all.
None. ExpenseMax is designed as a privacy-first application. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information, financial data, usage analytics, or device identifiers to our servers or any third party.
All data you enter into ExpenseMax, including expenses, budgets, categories, savings goals, receipt images, and voice notes, is stored exclusively on your device in a local database.
All your financial data is stored locally on your device using an encrypted SQLite database. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to:
When you scan a receipt using the camera feature, all text recognition (OCR) processing happens on your device using Google ML Kit's on-device text recognition. No images or extracted text are sent to any server. Receipt images are stored locally on your device.
When you record a voice note attached to a transaction, the audio file is stored locally on your device. No audio is uploaded, transmitted, or processed by any server. Audio is only ever played back to you when you tap the play button on a transaction.
ExpenseMax's leak detection feature (which identifies forgotten subscriptions, price increases, duplicate services, and spending patterns) runs entirely on your device. Your transaction data is never sent anywhere for analysis.
If you purchase ExpenseMax Pro, the transaction is processed by Google Play. Google's privacy policy applies to payment processing. We do not receive or store your payment details.
Used for receipt text recognition. All processing occurs on your device. No data is sent to Google's servers.
If you choose to rate the app, the Google Play Store handles the review submission. We never see what you write.
We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your personal information with any third party. Period.

ExpenseMax does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. Since we do not collect any personal data from any user, this applies universally.

ExpenseMax does not transfer your data internationally because your data never leaves your device.

However, we cannot guarantee the security of data stored on your device if your device itself is compromised. We recommend using device-level security features (screen lock, encryption) which all modern Android devices provide by default.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this document and will be available within the app. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
If we make material changes (for example, changing what data is collected), we will notify users through an in-app message or prompt before the changes take effect.
