1. Introduction

Prayo ("we," "our," or "the app") is developed by Cinderhound Studio. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Bible verse and prayer application on iOS.

            Prayo is designed to be privacy-respecting by default. Your reflections and personal data are stored on your own device, not on our servers.
        

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

Name: If you choose to enter your name, it is used to personalize greetings and prayers. It is stored locally on your device
Onboarding Responses: Your answers during onboarding (such as preferences and goals) are stored locally to tailor your experience
Daily Reflections: Your daily mood and sense of connection are stored locally on your device to show you your journey over time
Favorites: Verses you mark as favorites are stored locally on your device
Your Own Quotes: Any verses or reflections you save are stored locally on your device

2.2 Data We Do NOT Collect

We do not require you to create an account
We do not collect your location or GPS data
We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera
We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties
We do not include third-party advertising in the app

2.3 Device Information

We may collect basic, anonymized information such as device model, operating system version, and app version to diagnose crashes and improve performance

2.4 Permissions Required

Notifications: To send you daily verses and prayer reminders. This permission is optional and can be disabled at any time in iOS Settings
Screen Time (Family Controls): With your permission, Prayo can block or "shield" apps you choose until you complete your daily prayer. You select which apps to block through Apple's system picker. Prayo cannot see which apps you actually use or your activity within them, only the apps you chose to block. This permission is optional and can be turned off at any time

3. How We Use Your Information

Personalize your greetings, prayers, and daily experience
Display your reading streak, favorites, and reflection journey
Send you daily verse and prayer notifications (if enabled)
Diagnose technical problems and improve app performance

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 In-App Subscriptions

Prayo may offer optional premium subscriptions to unlock additional features. Subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store:

Payment Processing: All payments are handled securely by Apple. We never see or store your payment information
Subscription Status: We receive confirmation of your subscription status to unlock premium features
Management: You can manage or cancel subscriptions anytime through iOS Settings → Subscriptions
Refunds: Refund requests are handled by Apple according to their refund policies

4.2 Cloud Backup

Prayo data stored on your device may be included in your iCloud backup if you have iCloud Backup enabled. This backup is managed by Apple and stored in your personal iCloud account, not on our servers

4.3 Screen Time / App Blocking (Family Controls)

Prayo's app-blocking feature uses Apple's Family Controls framework (Screen Time). When you enable it and select apps to block, that selection is stored on your device using Apple's privacy-preserving system, which represents your chosen apps as opaque tokens. Prayo does not receive the names of the apps you use, your usage statistics, or any activity data. All blocking happens on your device through Apple's system, and no Screen Time data is transmitted to us or any third party.

5. Data Storage and Security

Local Storage: Your name, reflections, favorites, saved quotes, streak, and settings are stored locally on your device
No Cloud Accounts: Prayo does not maintain user accounts or store your personal content on our servers
Security: We implement reasonable measures to protect the limited data the app handles

6. Data Retention

Your data is stored on your device until you uninstall the app or clear its data
Uninstalling Prayo removes all locally stored data from your device
iCloud backups remain in your account until you delete them

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your data: View it within the app
Delete your data: Uninstall the app or clear app data in device settings
Disable notifications: Through the app's Reminders settings or iOS Settings
Cancel subscriptions: Through iOS Settings → Subscriptions

8. Children's Privacy

Prayo is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
